OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD

Kara and I recently attended an OCC celebration meeting for the work that was done in 2022. From the Mid-South Region (Arkansas, Kentucky, and Tennessee), there were 825,476 shoebox gifts received. Dumas First Baptist is part of the Three Rivers Area Team, and the churches comprising this region received 13,947 shoebox Gospel opportunities. FBC alone contributed 1,903 to this ministry. We have much to celebrate, for each of these boxes represents a child and family that will receive the message of Jesus Christ and the opportunity to learn more about Him. Please pray that the Holy Spirit will use these tools to go where we cannot and say the words of Hope to those who receive the boxes.
We are so thankful for the generous hearts found in First Baptist Church. Thank you for your willingness to be the hands and feet of Jesus. We have already begun again to prepare for 2023. Those of you who like to shop, look for items we might use to fill the boxes. Those of you who are crafty, there are old tee shirts in the OCC Room that you can use to make jump ropes, hand bags, etc. If you are good with tools, there are small toys that can be made. Use clean pill bottles to make fishing kits and sewing kits. The list is long.
Thank you to those of you who have made OCC a monthly part of your giving. Remember that you can give to OCC as a memorial to someone or to honor someone. Just designate your donation to OCC or tell Kathy.
For those who have wondered about the impact of Operation Christmas Child, in a location in another part of the world, there is a village that follows another religion and is totally closed to the gospel and refuses to allow it to enter. However, a pastor learned how OCC was used to open closed doors. After much prayer, the pastor and his team took 200 shoebox gifts to the village and were given permission to distribute them to the children. A child named Moussa accepted the Lord and as a result, in time he led his family and friends to believe in this Hope he found in a box. These village children have succeeded in "speaking Jesus" where Jesus was once unwelcome.
We take Jesus for granted here in Dumas, Arkansas. Let us never waste an opportunity to share Him with those here at home as well as in places far away.
There is work to do. Merry Christmas all year long.
