OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD
We are already in full swing preparing to pack shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child. Items are being purchased with your generous donations and responses to our fundraisers. However, those of you who like to shop for bargains, we welcome any additions you might wish to contribute to our stockpile. We are in particular need of coloring books and stuffed animals.
In order to make room to store these items, we are planning to have an OCC workday on Sunday afternoon, September 11th, following the Youth Fundraiser-Meals to Go! We welcome any that can to join us in the Faith Center to make jump ropes, sort items, and put shoe boxes together.
This year we are planning three mini-packing parties, one for each age category. The first one will be September 25th; second category will be October 16th; the third will be November 13th. National OCC Shoebox Collection Week is November 14th - 21st.
Please be reminded that OCC Shoeboxes are not ordinary gifts. Each box is a Gospel opportunity to reach the hearts and minds of those that receive them with the good news about Jesus Christ. Each box that we send represents a child that needs to know the Lord, someone that you and I often take for granted and ignore. This ministry has been remarkable in planting churches and changing lives in places you and I know little or nothing about. It has given hope to the hopeless living in war-torn regions and isolated areas. It has shown love to children living in orphanages where there is little or none. First Baptist Church here in Dumas, Arkansas, has had a part in this.
Let us do all that the Lord enables us to do here in Dumas, the United States, and around the world to turn all eyes upon Jesus, the only hope for mankind.
